  •  Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center: Located 2 miles away from the beach, it is one of the finest aquariums in the United States. It has over 300 breathtaking marine exhibits. The aquarium even has its own IMAX Theatre where you can learn more about marine life. Apart from the regular marine exhibits, it houses an outdoor aviary and about 330 m long nature trail. The most amazing exhibits in the place are the touch pools. Here, you can discover that how the marine animals actually feel like.
  • First Landing State Park: Formerly called the Seashore State Park, it is the most visited park in the state of Virginia. It spreads over an area of 3,000 acres and is a fantastic place to delve into the nature away from the beach crowd.   • Virginia Beach Boardwalk: Unlike the traditional boardwalks made of wooden planks, the famous Virginia Beach boardwalk is purely concrete. It consists of 59 different blocks. Each block is lined up with old fashioned benches and colonial style street lamps and surely, the walking path.  There are numerous festivals and events held on the Boardwalk throughout the year. However, you can stay assured to be entertained by street performers any time. The Boardwalk has many antique stores, restaurants, gift shops along the Boardwalk.  You can always enjoy a local meal or go for a shopping trip around the Boardwalk.
  • Cape Henry Lighthouse: Built in 1792, it is the first government constructed light house. It has been watching over the shores of Chesapeake Bay for more than three centuries now. You can climb your way to the top of the lighthouse to get a marvelous 360 degree view of the area, though it will prove to be an exercise climbing 191 old brick steps at a time. As the lighthouse is located on the grounds of Fort Story Military Base, you will require a valid ID proof to enter the premises. So make sure that you have one with you.
